Step 1: The Flight

Sunday October 14, 2012 at around 3:00pm, I officially bought my round-trip ticket to Ireland! I have been saving for over two months, and I finally have the money for the tickets! I would have been able to buy them weeks ago, except that I bought some things for myself which push it back. anyways, I finally have my plane tickets, so I am very much excited! it makes it real that I am going. at this point, it is not just a dream or an idea, it is a plan from here on out. the next step of course, is booking the hostel. I am staying in Belfast and Dublin, so I have to book two separate hostels. I've done some research on www.hostelworld.com, and the general price for both hostels combined will be around $500. it would be less, but I'm staying in a private room in the Belfast hostel, and would in the Dublin hostel except none are available for the 3 nights in a row, so it'll be a bit more expensive than were I staying in one of the dorm rooms. still, totally worth it in my opinion.
Below are my flight details to Ireland! this is the first step towards my trip, and I am so excited! granted, school does get in the way of my excitement a lot of times, but I cannot wait for this trip and I think it will be such a good time. I have always been fascinated with the Titanic, so to be going to the city where she was built, will be such a highlight and I cannot believe I am really going. plus Ireland and Northern Ireland are such beautiful countries that I am sure will be break taking! :)
To me, traveling is not just going on the trip, it is everything that comes before it, everything that comes after it. the idea moment when you first think about going, starting the plans, and then the moment when you book the tickets or the hotel and it becomes real, then the leading up to the trip, then the trip itself, and then the coming back home part. even when it is just a week compared to a year or more, a trip is still a trip, and I love them. whether it is a year long trip to China or a week long trip to Ireland or a weekend campaign to Oklahoma or merely a day's trip to Dallas, I love it. it's part of who I am: the girl who loves to travel.
My flight has had an interest journey(pun intended). I looked up the prices weeks/months ago and was saving up to buy the $725, then night before I would finally have saved enough to buy the plane tickets, I checked on orbitz ,and all websites for buying planes tickets, and the flight I was going to buy was sold out. I was soo mad! I would have to wait until the next week! which was not a lot of time I know, but I was so close and buying the plane tickets is the first step that makes the trip real. ironically, day later I checked back and the $725 price was back, but I would only have an hour to chance planes at Boston to Ireland: no way would I make it! domestic to international in one hour? no way! so I felt better because I made the choice to wait for a week. however, a few days after that I checked again, and I found some flight times for $725 again, and I chose this one. I have plenty of time to switch to the flight to Dublin, and when I come back I do have to wait 4 hours layover, but I leas I stand a shot at catching a greyhound back to Abilene that night, but depending how work schedule and classes turn out, I might be able to wait until the following morning to take a greyhound back. I am way excited to travel on an Irish airline! :) :)
